Professional Family History Research and Genealogical Instruction

About Dawn

I am a genealogical researcher and instructor at heart who specializes in the Southeastern Pennsylvania and the Southern New Jersey regions of the United States. I have many passions including... nature, animals, photography, travel, art, teaching and of course researching family history. I live with my husband of more than 34 years and our two furballs, Minnie and Darwin, (the kids have flown the coop!) My curiosity for family history began when I was a child. I was introduced to a German family tree that had been handed down through the generations on my Dad's side of the family. It's written in Sütterlin style German script, dates to 1430 and, I thought, was almost impossible to decipher. The only parts of it that were identifiable, to me, were the names and dates. The image above is just a snippet of that tree. Since receiving the tree over thirty-five years ago, it's been sent to Germany and translated. What a happy day that was to finally know what information it contained. Because of that 141-year-old piece of paper, I have now embarked on a journey that has changed my life. Using the skills I've acquired as a teacher and researcher, my goals are to help others uncover their amazing family histories and to educate those who wish to journey back in time on their own.

I am currently the Vice President of the APG Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter. I hold memberships in the Association of Professional Genealogists(APG), the APG Greater Philadelphia Area Chapter and the National Genealogical Society.  I hold a certificate in genealogical research from Boston University and am a member of ProGen 24.  And I love spending time volunteering at the Camden County Historical Society, Camden County, NJ
